You are invited to our Happy Birthdays Open House! We moved into our very own location at the end of 2016 and we’re ready to have you over for cupcakes to see it. Bring your family and friends and stop by to learn what we do at Happy Birthdays and how you can get involved with sharing birthday joy. Hope to see you there!
You are invited to The Dance Gallery’s “A Birthday for Every Season” concert at 7 pm on February 10th. These amazing dancers hold a concert each year and select a charity to give the proceeds to. We are so honored that they have chosen Happy Birthdays this year. The show will be held at the Raymond E Hartfield Performing Arts Center at 5800 McNeil Drive, Austin, TX. It is sure to be a great show. Hope to see you there!
We received two perfect birthday boxes in the mail along with this beautiful letter. It explains perfectly why Happy Birthdays is so important to us! Thank you, David Clark and family.
Dear Happy Birthdays Staff,
Enclosed, please find two birthday party boxes. There is one for a girl, and one for a boy. My children assembled the boxes and we hope that they will be of use to you and the clients that you serve. We would like to thank you for your efforts in meeting a need that so few people understand. Children who have suffered terribly and are now in the foster care system will have a special day, because of you.
In the late 1990’s I worked as a Child Protective Services Specialist covering Hill, Falls, Hamilton, and Bosque counties. During that time I had to place a number of children into shelters and foster homes around Central Texas, so your charity has a special meaning for me. I applaud you for the work you do and hope to be able to support you for years to come.
Additionally, I would like to thank you for providing an opportunity to introduce the importance of serving others to my children in a way that is impactful to them. Being separated from everything familiar, regardless of the negative circumstances from which they were taken, and not having a “birthday’ which is something so special to children, is a concept that seems to have resonated with my daughter and son. Though young (6 and 4), they were able to understand how important a party and gifts would be to a child in that situation. They were joyful in picking out the party supplies and gifts, and in assembling their boxes. They understood that what they were doing would have a positive impact on a child who they will likely never meet. My hope is that this will plant a seed in them that will be cultivated into a lifelong dedication to service. Thank you for that.
